Our fabulous Family Teacher Community hosted our annual Black History Month Spirit Week the week of February 12-16th. Check out the awesome line up of speakers, dress up days, activities, and more!

Join us to learn more about our approach to a Whole Child Education at our Open House on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Open House is an excellent opportunity to visit our campus, see inside the classrooms, and meet our vibrant community. There will be faculty, students, parents, and alumni on site to answer your questions and share their experiences!

Día de Muertos at Northern Light School is always a special time of year where we come together as a community to celebrate, reflect, and remember our loved ones with our community ofrenda.
This year for Día de Muertos we honored the memory of our loved ones with our traditional ofrenda, and with special activities and events, including making remembrance butterflies, reading about the holiday and writing stories about those who have passed on, taking field trips to the Oakland Museum to see performances by Cascada de Flores, and coming together to learn more in our Spanish classes. At Northern Light School, we choose to celebrate Día de Muertos as a holiday to reflect and remember and it is one of our most cherished community events.

In February, we celebrated Black History Month with a dynamic, student-centered program highlighting the rich traditions of the African diaspora, and the towering contributions of Black artists, scholars, icons, innovators, and leaders throughout American history.

恭喜發財! Northern Light School kicked off this Lunar New Year with a bang! We had a very special performances from the Cal VSA Lion Dance Team and from the Cal Fei Tian Dancers.

In November we honored Native American Heritage Month, and took a more classroom centered approach to how students engage with the histories of our country’s Indigenous communities.

Northern Light School honors and celebrates the countless contributions, powerful influence, and critical impact the LatinX community has had on American history, culture, and achievements. We have put together an exciting month of LatinX presenters, vibrant performances, school art projects, classroom curriculum, and more!

Northern Light School is excited to announce our 2nd Annual Holiday Donation Drive in partnership with Homie’s Empowerment. Homie’s Empowerment is a youth and community development organization founded in 2009. They serve over 400 families in the Bay Area and give away over $20K in food every week. This winter they’re working on their “FREEdom Store” where everything is free to Bay Area residents. Northern Light School is excited to partner with Homie’s Empowerment in meeting their goals.
