At Northern Light, our Lower School nurtures curious, confident, and compassionate learners. Students in grades K–5 experience a rich and balanced curriculum that builds strong foundations in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, while encouraging exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.

Spanish, Athletics, Music & Performing Arts: Learning goes beyond the classroom. Students take Spanish, discovering language and the vibrant cultures of Latinx communities, and participate in Physical Education, where they develop coordination, teamwork, and healthy habits. Our hands-on, project-based approach empowers children to think critically, ask questions, and connect learning to the world around them. In addition, our students engage in Music and Performing Arts, exploring rhythm, voice, and movement while building confidence, collaboration skills, and creative expression. Together, these programs ensure students develop a well-rounded, joyful, and culturally enriched education.

Science & STEM: Our Lower School STEM program sparks curiosity and encourages experimentation, problem-solving, and discovery. Students engage in hands-on experiments, meron engineering challenges, and coding projects that help them explore the natural world, develop logical thinking, and apply scientific principles in meaningful ways. This program builds confidence and inspires young learners to become innovators and critical thinkers.

A Community of Growth & Belonging: Lower School at Northern Light is more than academics. It’s a place where children learn to collaborate, celebrate differences, and develop empathy. Through classroom discussions, group projects, and cultural experiences, students gain the tools to navigate challenges and thrive socially and emotionally. Our programs emphasize self-confidence, resilience, and civic responsibility, helping every child grow into a thoughtful, empowered member of their community.
