Science-Fourth Grade Assignments

In class we started our final project. If you need more time, the instructions are in you packet:

STEP 1: Read the directions for the assignment in your science packet : "Final Project: Rube Goldberg Machine" (in class we took out the part about the flashlight - you don't need to include the flashlight since we did not make one)

SPET 2: On the next page in your packet, draw and brainstorm your design. Remember it needs to have 6 steps.

STEP 3: Try building your machine. You may need to make adjustments.

STEP 4: Draw your final design on the next page of your packet, and explain how it works and where the energy comes from.

STEP 5: Film your chain reaction machine and add it to the Flip Grid :)

If you are missing any pages in your packet, here are the three pages you need.

Please answer all 10 questions while we are in class today. Make sure to read each question carefully, before choosing your answer. There is one short answer question.

When you are finished, you can work on your Chain Reaction Final Project. Please make sure to follow the directions in your science packet :)

Click the link below and start the video at "Hands on Activity". This will walk you through how to build the first part of your machine. The handouts are the last two pages of your second science packet. If you need the handouts, I have also attached both of those for you to print out.

You can use any supplies you find around your house to help you set up your machine.

Please come to class tomorrow with the following built:
1. Ramp
2. Marble
3. Cup to catch your marble

After watching the movie in class, we are going to take the review quiz, and use the circuit simulator to see how we can make a complete pathway to light a lightbulb. Check each of the circuits you predicted on Investigation 1.1. Do they all work?Let's see all the ways you can successfully make circuits!

We are going to complete these tasks in class together, but you will answer the questions on your own as we work through the lesson.

This is your final assessment for the first trimester. Please take your time and read each question carefully, before marking your answers. Don't forget, you may use your notebook! Good luck - you're going to do great!!!

For the last part of class, please complete this assignment. When you are finished, you can use the rest of class time to work on incomplete work.
