Dominick Sullivan

Dominick (they/them and he/him pronouns) was born in Brazil and had lived in Argentina, Paraguay, Las Vegas, and the Dominican Republic before moving to San Diego from second grade onward. Growing up between countries in a multicultural family, Dom learned the importance of staying open-minded and flexible. Despite the challenges of assimilating to new school environments, Dom developed a love for learning science. Dom is very passionate about science communication, generating a love for our natural environments, and cultivating a sense of ownership and stewardship of our planet.

Dominick received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Public Policy with an emphasis on Spatial Studies. After doing a post-baccalaureate research fellowship at Harvard Forest and an AmeriCorps term with the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, Dom found a job at NatureBridge in Sausalito. NatureBridge is an outdoor science camp in the Marin Headlands, where Dom developed many of the skills they utilize today in science education: inquiry-based learning, social and emotional skill-building, and culturally responsive education.

Dom was drawn to work at Northern Light School because of the mission and values of the school. Furthermore, after three years of outdoor science education, Dom is excited to grow as a teacher in a classroom setting.

In their free time, Dom loves to relax. If spending time inside, Dom will cook, play video games, watch movies, or engage in creative pursuits. If spending time outside, Dom loves to find new trails and parks, go running, and socialize with friends and locals.
