Andrea van Duren

Andrea van Duren brings over 14 years of experience in education, classroom support, and youth-centered facilitation to her role as Academic Assistant at Northern Light School. With a deep commitment to social justice and the whole-child approach, Andrea’s work is grounded in empathy, adaptability, and a passion for inclusive, student-centered learning.

Andrea has worked in a variety of educational settings, from public schools to Montessori classrooms, supporting students across the K–8 spectrum. Her experience includes roles as an Educational Assistant, Classroom Support Specialist, ESL teacher, and ABA Specialist working with neurodiverse learners. In each role, she has demonstrated a unique ability to connect with students from all backgrounds, respond to individual needs with curiosity and care, and foster safe, empowering learning environments.

In addition to her classroom experience, Andrea served as the Restorative Justice Program Manager at the Center for Dialogue and Resolution, where she facilitated transformative conversations with youth and adults navigating complex life circumstances. This work reflects her unwavering belief in the power of relationships, community healing, and student voice.

Andrea is thrilled to be part of the Northern Light School community and is inspired by its mission to cultivate critical thinkers and compassionate leaders. She is honored to support students and staff as they grow, learn, and work toward a more just and joyful future.
