Students at Northern Light School, a leading independent school, experience a rich blend of artistic, athletic, and academic pursuits.
Beyond the core subjects of Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies, all students in grades K-8 take Spanish and P.E. a minimum of twice a week. Spanish classes focus on developing the fourl anguage skills, while also introducing students to different cultures of Latin America. P.E. classes focus on teaching students fundamental skills and emphasizing the values of sportsmanship and teamwork. Because we are such a small school, almost all of our middle school boys and girls participate on at least one of our competitive soccer, basketball, volleyball, or track teams.
We also offer multiple elective opportunities. Students in grades K-5 learn to read music and play the recorder. Middle school students participate in rotating electives taught by our content area teachers. Some of our past middle school electives include High School Preparation, VEX IQ Robotics, Watershed Exploration, Video Production, Coding, Cooking, Mindfullness, Songbook, Computer Skills, and Soccer & Statistics. Students also come together throughout the year to show off what they have been working on:
