Steps to Apply

The application process at NLS has four distinct components. Each portion is designed to help you undestand the NLS philosophy and introduce you and your child to our unique environment. It also gives NLS faculty and staff an opportunity to know you and your child better. Click the links below to learn more!

Step 1: Come take a tour

There is nothing like being on campus, seeing classes in action, and meeting our community to help you experience what our school has to offer. During your visit, you will attend Morning Circle, take a tour and visit classrooms, and meet our school directors. To schedule a tour please call our admissions office at (510) 957-0570

Step 2: Fill out the application & submit application fee

The application is one of the ways we learn more about your family and your child. It helps us address your questions more effectively and also helps us plan your child's visit to our school. To be considered in our "first round," please submit your child's application and application fee by March 1.

Step 3: Arrange an assessment date

Once we receive your child's application, we will contact you with details about an assessment day. Activities include a brief essay and a standardized test for students applying for second through seventh grade.

Final Steps

Recommendation letters and transcripts are needed to complete the application process. Notification of acceptance will be mailed out the second Thursday in March.
